HOW TO PRACTICE

  1. Sit or lie down somewhere comfortable.
  2. Bring attention to the top of your head, noticing any sensation without judging it.
  3. Slowly move attention down through your face, shoulders, arms, chest, stomach, legs, and feet.
  4. If you notice tension, you can choose to soften it, or simply notice it and move on.
  5. Finish by taking one slow breath and opening your eyes.
Considerations

Some people find body awareness difficult during acute distress; switch to external grounding if needed.
