PRACTICE

Alternate nostril breathing

A slow, balancing breath practice that alternates between nostrils.

HOW TO PRACTICE

  1. Sit comfortably with your spine upright.
  2. Close your right nostril with your thumb and breathe in slowly through your left nostril.
  3. Close your left nostril with a finger, release your thumb, and breathe out through your right nostril.
  4. Breathe in through your right nostril, then switch and breathe out through your left.
  5. Continue alternating for 5 to 10 rounds, keeping the breath slow and unforced.
Considerations

A traditional calming technique. Breathe gently - never force or strain the breath. Skip if you have a blocked nose.
